The Future African Scientist Foundation (“FASF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through futureafricanscientistfoundation.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this website, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
We collect information only when you choose to give it to us:
- Contact and inquiry forms. When you use our contact form or donation inquiry form, we collect your full name, email address, and message, and optionally your organization and how you’d describe yourself (donor, partner, scientist, student, media, or other).
- Newsletter opt-in. If you check the box to receive updates, we add your name and email to our mailing list. This is opt-in only: the box is never pre-checked for you.
- Donations. When you donate, you are taken to Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card details; see Donations & Payments below.
- Technical information. Our spam-protection service (Cloudflare Turnstile) automatically processes some technical signals, such as your browser and general network information, to confirm form submissions come from a real person rather than a bot. We do not use this for advertising or tracking.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to your message, question, or partnership inquiry
- Process and confirm donations, and send giving receipts
- Send you updates about FASF’s work, if you’ve opted in
- Maintain accurate donor and organizational records for accounting and tax purposes
- Protect the website and our forms against spam and abuse
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Donations & Payments
All donations made through this website are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. When you donate, you leave our website and complete your payment on Stripe’s own secure platform. FASF never receives, sees, or stores your full card number or other sensitive payment details. Stripe shares limited information back with us, such as your name, email, and donation amount, so we can send a receipt and keep accurate records.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to run this website, and information you submit may pass through them solely to deliver the service you requested:
- Stripe: processes donations. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- Mailtrap: delivers the emails generated by our contact and donation-inquiry forms to our team.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: verifies that form submissions are made by humans, not bots. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
Data Retention & Security
We keep the information you submit for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, maintain donor and financial records required by law, and operate our programs. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and secure, reputable third-party providers. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights & Choices
- You can unsubscribe from our email updates at any time using the link in any email we send.
- You can ask us what information we hold about you, request a correction, or request deletion, by emailing support@futureafricanscientistfoundation.org.
- Where applicable law (such as the GDPR or California’s CCPA) gives you additional rights, we will honor requests made under those laws to the extent required.
Children’s Privacy
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will update the “Effective date” above when we do. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
